    SOFT CLIPPING& FM DAMPNESS

What do the fm dampness and soft clipping switches,on the back of a Nad 7020 reciever,
do. I use it only as a preamp, as the amp is dead. And, would replacing 3amp fuses with 3.15 amp fuses (AS SPECIFIED) make a signifigant difference? Thanks, geniuses.

The fm dampness switch is used when you listen to, say, Handel's "Water Music".

The soft clipping switch is used when you listen to Barbershop Quartets........

My Fanfare doesn't have these switches, and evething including Handel's "Water Music" and Barbershop Quartets sound absolutely fine.......

The soft clipping switch on your NAD is for when you listen at high volume levels. It basically rounds the waveform of the music your playing when it 'clips' instead of allowing the cliped signal to get to your speakers which could damage them. Don't know what the FM dampness is for though.
