Sansui 9090 crackling volume control help!
Just fired up the ol beast again but it seems to be crakling a bit when I adjust the volume control, it has been stored for over a decade, I'm thinking maybe a good cleaning might help, any other sugestions out there? I don't know much about electronic repair.

yes, contact cleaners help, you can find them about everywhere, i had it with my kenwood too, after the contact cleaning fluid it was gone, and the volume knob became easier to turn too, anyways, go to your nearest electronics shop (electronics, not audio shop) they're supposed to have such things, and then spray it on the potentiometer, then your problem should be gone.

yeah, try it, but just spray over it, (make sure you have a spraycan version, dunno or they make others, buy anyways) spray it good, but don't drown it, make sure your amp is off and unplugged, after you sprayed it, leave it alone for a couple of minutes (i think it's written on the can how long you need to let it dry)
the cracles you are hearing when you turn up the volume are dust, nothing really bad or so, just annoying.
