    Rotel RC-1070 Preamp . . .
just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this preamp? I'm considering grabbing one for my system. I am running Paradigm Studio 80's and a PW-2200 sub. I have a Rotel RB-1080 amp and am currently using my old Yamaha Integrated Amp as the preamp.

Do you think this would be a worthwhile upgrade or would the improvement be negligible?

    Thanks!

I don't know which Yamaha you own now but I have yet to hear one that couldn't be bested by the Rotel. The preamp section in the Yamaha's I've heard is the weak part - no real complaint about the power amp section. I'd go for it - it should definitely be a worthwhile improvement.

I own the Rotel RA-1070 integrated. Lots of similar components to what you're looking at.
It's the nicest sounding piece I've ever owned, considerably more refined than any Yamaha stuff I've had.
PS Audio and Parasound have good followings for pre-amps too...might look at some of those.
Quite honestly, you could drop $120 on an old NAD integrated, say a 3140 or 3020 (I have both) and get a superior pre-amp section to the Yammies and save some money.
If you decide to stick with Rotel, you won't be disappointed though.
