"valve" is just another term for a tube amp. In tube amps you have a triode design which is low power yet seemingly a desirable sound and then you have ultralinear which are the more powerful tube amps. Trust me when I say not all tube amps sound the same, just like with transistors. The triode designs need very efficient speakers.

I'm not sure the full story on MOSFET. It's a type of transistor and the design is said to be less harsh to listen to than a typical bipolar transistor. MOSFET's are said to be better than the bipolar of old but there are better designs today. You'll have to talk to a techy if you want deeper than that.

The PrimaLuna gets good reviews but the reviews give me the impression the PL has a classic tube sound. Cayin, I haven't found very many reviews but they make a big variety of amps at a good price. What interested me about Cayin is they claim to make a couple amps that mimmick famous classic tube amps by McIntosh and Marantz. Being able to switch from ultralinear to triode would be nice too. Both offer integrated amps with auto-biasing. I was seriously considering a large Cayin integrated, I think it was rated at 90 wpc but I didn't want to use a meter to bias it. I eventually got a Conrad-Johnson pre & power power which I love and really opened my ears to the benefits of tubes.
