HK AVR 5500 and HDCD

I have an AVR, Harman Kardon 5500, that in theory handles HDCD encoding if the source is digitally conected and the sound is in stereo mode, but I tryed with a Mermen's HDCD CD on a cheap DVD player by Samsung and Xbox from Microsoft but neither of them works, at least the HDCD in the AVR does not light.

Have you got this problem with this AVR?

I am looking for a new CD player and I don't know if Im must look for one with the HDCD, or if the AVR must decode the HDCD I don't really need a CD player to do the same.
