    Sansui 9090DB Receiver Price

I saw a guy is selling a Sansui 9090DB receiver for $250 and everything works on the receiver and just some scratches on the wood cover! He also offers me a Marantz 2250B for $180 in good great condition too! What do you guys think about the price, is it a deal or not?

I am sure that if I buy both I can get the price down a little bit!

The 9090db sold from 74-79 new $900.00 and I know it's on that list of saught after Sansui. So if vintage is your thing it's probably not a bad deal. If kept up you could get your money back from those seeking the certain Sansui.

I agree with Mr. P. The one-time top-of-line Sansui 9090db is one of the most sought after Sansuis among collectors. A unit is excellent condition (which a few scratches on the wood case wouldn't exclude) might sell on eBay for US400+.

The Marantz 2250B is a mid-line model that will often sell on eBay for $150-200 if in excellent condition; offer $150.

Does the seller know how valuable they are? If not, offer $300 for both. If he's keen to the market, the Sansui is priced nicely. The Marantz, if in proper condition, is a good price too. You're buying a piece of history, not just any ol amp...

Here's a link to a better deal on the Marantz-

    here's another sansui-

I just might buy either the Marantz or Sansui. I've been looking at the HK 3490 but I like the Vintage sound.

They would be worth it, just for the Tuner's alone. FM Tuner's back then had a great warm sound. People used to listen to a llot more FM radio back then. Now tuners are an after thought of geared for HD radio.

That remains to be seen, firstly, these auctions are incomplete. Secondly, for secure, insured shipping you can add a few more bucks to those prices. I would rather pay a few extra bucks to NOT have it shipped, and be able to hear and see before I choose to buy.

As others have said the Sansui if everything is original would be a deal at that price. The Marantz is probalbly a little high but if in very good condition could command that kind of money.

I'd give them a good test so you want to make sure the seller is willing to allow you to check the gear out. if they balk or give an excuse why you can't then I'd walk away.

Let us know how you make out.

    Good luck

I'd be leery if it needs to warm up. The receivers of that time period were turn on and play. Sounds like something is wrong with the power supply.

That's out of left field. Why do we need to know how he "makes out", and is this the place for that? Surely, one's tongue is not used to evaluate hi fi gear

    Congratulations!!!
    Very nice pick-up!!
Looks like they were very well taken care of but I would recommend though that you do open them up just to give them a quick cleaning.

What are you looking to hook up to them?????

Congrats, I love the look of those Vintage Marantz. Next to McIntosh I thought that they were some of the best looking receivers. That Sansui ain't bad either. I hope you enjoy them! I'm jealous!

Excellent price the sansui alone goes for pretty much what you paid for both.
As for speakers those two pieces will drive just about anything you throw at them.

If you want to go vintage to match the time period that is always a nice choice. I am partial to anything Henry Kloss was involved in so early KLH, AR or Advent would be on my watch list as well as ADS,Rectilinear or JBL Century 100's.

i hooked the sansui to the cerwin vega 2000 Series and the sound is unbelievable. Sounds amazing. I never though this receiver will have such a great sound.

It is a very heavy piece. I had to take 3 breaks by the time I get it home.
