Just Looking for a Bit of Advice

    Hi,

Hoping somebody could answer this for me. I'm advising my aunt on putting together a system. She's not willing to spend a lot but she has a nice pair of JPW speakers already. I've seen an integrated amp and tuner the might do the job. The speakers are rated to 6 ohms and 85 watts and apparently the amp drives 100 watts into 8 ohms. I know the basics of resistance but I just wanna run it buy some experts. Am I gonna burn out the amp? By the way it's the Sony SDRH100 and hasn't been released yet.

    Cheers.

The short answer is, "It will be fine."

The long answer is quite a bit longer and passes through Ohm's law and a bit of history of amplifiers and their specifications and impedance vs. frequency curves for speakers condensed to a single number but, not to worry, it leads to the same conclusion.
