Onkyo or Denon?
Which sounds better?
Onkyo 484 55 watts or the Denon 1905 80 watts.
Would the denon sound any better?
Inow have the Onkyo.
Thanks,
Marc

It may not sound better, though it may be able to play a little louder. Here is how it works - for every double in power (watts) you get 3db louder. So you will gain just under 1.5db, not much! I personally don't care for Denon products, I had a DVD player break just a month after warranty ran out :(. What do you normally listen to and what kind of speakers and listening room? This will help us advise you!

I had an Onkyo 48wpc 2 channel receiver hooked up to a pair of Infinity Kappa 7's and it slammed those 12's. My brother has those speakers now and he is using a close to the bottom of the line Denon HT receiver. The Denon definitely don't have the slam that the Onkyo has. The Denon seems to be more bright and more open in the mids. My choice would be to stick with the Onkyo but if you run your sub all the time you may not miss the punch of the Onkyo.
