One channel plays louder, Yamaha AX-700
Like the title says, i've bought a secondhand Yamaha AX-700. But I noticed that one channel plays louder? Is it easy to fix, or could various reasons be the problem? Some basic information would mean a lot too me!

    Could be many things:

Switch the speakers cable to see if it is the speakers or not.

It could be something internal. Since you get signal it should be something little. It is possible to be the capacitors but usually they both got together but you never know. Open it and look for something burned. Check the speaker connectors! and the wires inside. Clean it if it is dirty.

get some contact cleaner, open her up, and THOROUGHLY clean all the potentiometers.

best is to actually get them out of the amplifier and give them a "bath" of contact cleaner, otherwise the problem might return.

also check all switches etc, and clean them too.

If it's not that, it might be a capacitor that drifted, or a transistor, the latter is harder to replace, as you have to set the offset again after that... (so you need a schematic...)

    Good luck,
    Bert.
