Need amplifier for: 2 x 150w @ 4 ohms

I need an amplifier for: 2 x 150w @ 4 ohms.

This will drive two KEF C35s. Line level inputs would be helpful because my Yamaha receiver doesn't have preamp outs.

A preamp output (that drives a power amp) IS a line level signal. How do you plan to connect it to your receiver if you don't have a preamp output?

No amp that I'm aware of have high level inputs. You see this in car audio but not home. You need to get a different receiver or live with what you have. I'm not sure if there are any kind of step down adapters but that still isn't the way to go.

I'm curious why exactly do you NEED 150 watts per channel?

Here's a line level volume control but this is not the way to go.

If you decide to go with a separate 2ch receiver like the Outlaw RR2150 which is 160wpc at 4ohm and thats conservative, then niles audio also makes an amplifier switcher

Bassite, I will have to check that thing out. From Musical Fidelity it probably costs more than a new receiver would.

The poster said "line level" but he meant "high level" because he is trying to add an amp to a receiver that has no preamp outputs. Preamp outputs are line level. To add an amp with out pre outs you'd have to use speaker terminals which are high, very high, in most instances, level. In my anal mind the thought of such a configuration makes me crenge.

I know, the friggin things come in at $9.5k or so...

basically it just 'supercharges' the amp's output to 550 watts (per channel, but they're basically monoblocs, so...), from all the reviews I read, they all said it was perfect to hook up to low powered tube amps (SET's), to boost the output.

I haven't heard them though, my dealer has a pair, maybe I should audition them...

Whooooo! Even more than I imagined. And, just what I'd put on a Yamaha receiver :) Of course, he only needed 150 watts, do you know anything that would step a 550 watt amp down to 150?

The 550 is probably a true spec from MF. I wonder how these work with a HTIB?
