Just when you think you're set, BAM! you find yourself upgrading again.

I've been watching the CT6 CJ preamp at Spearitsound's website for over a year. A refurb at $3k almost got me. I emailed Jack with tongue in cheek asking if any Black Friday deals. Well to my surprise he came back with one. So next week some time I should be receiving the CT6 tube preamp. I'm happy with the PV14ls2 but a chance to get something of the CT6 calibur is too tempting. I have the option to return it so I will have to see how much difference it makes.

We need a support group, some one to help in these moments of weakness.

The PV14ls2 could be up for sale soon.

Congrats! I do that all the time. I call up places asking for any special deal. It's surprising what you can dig up.

I am lagging behind on getting some pix, I've never posted any. I'll have to see if I can get some help to do that.

The CT6 uses four 6922 tubes. I believe my PV14 only has one 6C4. The CT6 has more output gain as well. It will be interesting to hear the difference.

Haha! Uploading pics is easy; easier still is posting a link. But I'll save you the trouble for the time being ...

    Conrad-Johnson CT6 ...

But see that you send us pics of your device installed. The CT6, IMO, is one of the less ugly CJs which tend to be esthetically challenged in general.

Time to get into tube rolling. For guy who fusses so much about cables, you owe it to yourself to try different tubes -- ususally a lot more difference than cables, (cheaper too), that's my experience anyway. I've tried six or seven diffenent 6922 and their kin in my SF Line 1 and the ones I liked best are these ...

I'm planning to sell the PV14. If this doesn't happen right away I will probably hook it up to my gfa-5500 for a listen.
