    Vsx-820

    I'm thing i buying an amp, can i use the Pioneer vsx-820 as a preamp? any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks for looking

    I dont think you can use it as a preamp! Did you get a power amp so you wanna connect it with the Pioneer receiver or something else is on your mind? Let us know to see what your idea is

    I have the receiver and was thing about getting an amp to drive the two front speakers using the reciver as a preamp if its possible.

    Your Pioneer has audio line out jacks. I am assuming the signal is buffered from those, you would have to check. If so it won't function like a preamp, you won't be able to control the volume of the amp. If the amp has it's own gain control, it would work.

    If those line out jacks have variable volume control, you're in business.
