    Audio-Technica-AT-LP120-USB-Direct-Drive-Professional-Turntable

What is minimum needed with this turntable for best sound. With a preamp within this turntable, will it power speakers sufficiently alone or are amplified speakers necessary? Or is a separate amplifier with standalone speakers needed?

For playback through an audio system you will need to connect the turntable to an amplifier and speakers. The turntable has a built-in phono preamplifier. Connect the RCA outputs of the turntable to any available high level (not phono) input of the amplifier, and you're good to go.

You can also connect the turntable USB output to the USB jack of a computer, to convert vinyl records to digital audio files. Load the Audacity software bundled with the turntable onto your computer, to use as your (WAV, mp3, etc.) recorder. Read the manual that came with the turntable.
