    amp in acura commercial

Can anyone tell me what is the tube amp used in the recent Acura commercial that disparages "luxury?"

I would have said, "A Dared Audio with a extra 6dj8 pre-amp tube that doesn't seem to be there from factory" but it is a Jolida JD 502 that produces sound that only dogs can hear!

I for one think it's a pretty bad commercial, since a lot of people they are trying to attract to the Acura brand appriciate quality gear like the Jolida. In any case an Acura is just a rebadged Honda with woodgrain.
    Audio;
    Ming Da MC34-AB 75wpc
PS Audio Classic 250. 500wpc into 4 ohms.
    PS Audio 4.5 preamp,
Marantz 6170 TT Shure M97e cart.
Arcam Alpha 9 CD.- 24 bit dCS Ring DAC.
    Magnepan 3.6r speakers Oak/black,

The same could be said for Lexus, just a rebadged Toyota with woodgrain, since the Lexus brand name, like Acura does not exist in Japan. BTW, I own a 19 year old Acura that still looks like new and runs like new. No sudden acceleration, never a major recall.

Nice condition! Looks like my old Accord with upscale rims.

I just saw another Acura commercial where it's just the audiophile and in a series of clips he's portrayed as someone who doesn't know why or how to explain why he likes his amp. Finally he says "there's real gas in there" (pointing to the tubes"

I think it's a pretty funny commercial and the fact that they have 3 others dissing luxury watches, pens and pool tables, shows that they are not only attacking audiophiles, but luxury items in general.

All of the above + Pen:

While it is clear that many potential Acura owners would buy other luxury items, I suppose Acura is trying to approach the luxury car market from a different angle. Rather than just trying to be another status symbol, they are aiming to be about performance. Considering that when most persons think of luxury cars, Acura is not the first car on the list, it does make sense for them to differentiate themselves from the pack.

Exactly, Acura are saying "all of these things are silly extravagances, but an Acura contains value beyond being just a status symbol".

Personally, I would like to smash the amp over that guy's head. Maybe the dog will hear it...

I have an 05 Acura RSX-S and love it but the current line is an atrocity. The TSX and RL are hideous and the TL is a plain disaster. The lines on all the cars just do not flow and look too out of place. I cannot stand to be driving behind a TL cuz that rear end hurts my eyes too much. I always thought most Acura's had a refined classy elegance to them but now, bleh.

And yes that tube amp commercial angers me greatly...

I saw the commercial was so of excited to see the tube amp. I called my girlfriend to look at it, I don't think it was a big deal to her but it was to me.
I have the Jolida JD801a and I have a 1992 Acura LS Legion my first foreign car(Loving it). I donot pay much attention to what they're talking about because most of the time I switch over to music when the commercials comes on. I'm not planning on buying another car anytime soon. Audio equipment another story!

Can you say, "smiley face?" A smiley face in the front and a smiley face in the back. Every one of their new models has two smiley faces.

But I do enjoy those commercials. As someone who paid $2500 for a pool cue a bout 10 years ago, and is into audio, that commercial has a special place in my heart.

Not totally true. The Mark Levinson brand is only available on the Lexus models.
