    Denon 3805

I just got a denon 3805 from one of the online retailer. after I set everything up I notice that I have to crank up the volume knob pretty high in order to get a decent amount a sound coming out, I had a 3802 with the same setup and it nothing like it at all. Is my product defective??

Not necessarily...Is there a numeric range on the display given for volumes? What's the max, and where are you at for a "decent amount of sound"?

On my 3802 when my volum is at -30 my speaker is getting a pretty decent amount of sound vs the new 3805 I have to get to +15.

Hmmm, what's the highest number possible?
Forgot to ask, are you sure the main speakers aren't being cut (some receivers have a 10 dB or so cut feature) then this?

At +15 I would think it would be way too loud. Something is amis.

I try one of my friend's old pioneer receiver (costco $200) and it is alot louder than the one I have. I only get a decent amount of sound when I turn the volum all the up to the max.

Better grab the receipt and start the exchange/refund process...a brand new receiver of that cost shouldn't be having problems outputting volume. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I was hoping it'd be some silly setting or something.
