just picked up a gfa 555 and i notice when i turn it off it makes a sound like i just shot a space invader. is this normal? whats going on here? thanks in advance

i have no idea, usually when a amp shuts off you can here the relay click out and amps all make a somewhat different sound. could be that but i dont know.

I've owned several various Adcoms over the years, and have 2 gfa 535 II's right now...they both make the noice, left then right speaker make a slight discharging noise....if you read the owners manual, it warns you about it so you don't get nervous when it happens.
This is normal in Adcom (and several other) amplifiers.
No worries. What I do is leave the source on until it cuts out.

My old PS Audio 200c used to make noise on powerdown. I think it has to do with the fact that these amps are direct coupled.
