    1st sound, Yamaha RX-797 ...

... ZZ Top Deguello of course. Santa Clause was good to me this year and brought me a Yamaha RX-797 to replace my 1978 Onkyo A-5. It sound great with my Klipsch RF-7s. No more static with the volume and balance controls.

Other than the Onkyo having old age issues, how did the Yamaha compare? Did you lose a bit of punch and detail in the low end when switching to Yamaha? Yamaha high frequencies a bit easier to listen to through the Klipsch?

Amplifiers are 99 and 44 one hundredths % pure love. I doubt anyone can really tell the difference.

I did not bother with an A/B comparison.
